Splash Beach Resort Phuket
Splash Beach Resort is just ten minutes from the Phuket International Airport. An enormous property situated beachfront along 500m of pristine Mai Khao beach. A super clean beach with a forest of palm trees dividing it from the resort. Being right near the airport we were never bothered by the sound of planes. However, we loved walking down the beach in line with the runway watching them land and take-off overhead. Nearby outside the property, there are several nice (and well priced) restaurants as well as convenience stores and a pharmacy.
You are spoilt for choice with a room choice for all budgets. Seriously there are over 30 different room types from generously sized rooms to luxurious villas, apartments, penthouses and suites (some even with their own kitchens and pools). Many of the villas are brand new with modern flair and design. Even with all this accommodation offered you feel totally secluded thanks to the luscious tropical garden sprawling the entire grounds and various lakes and rivers.
Inside Our Two Bedroom Pool Villa
We were hosted in the ideal family room types, one of the brand spanking new two-bedroom pool villas. A private oasis of 190 sqm of spacious living featuring a large inviting pool and cabana as well as lavish two-bedroom villa space with their own ensuites and large lounge.
Entrance & Pool
The recently constructed villas at Splash Beach Resort are found in their own private secure area of the property. Through a manned security gate and along a tree-lined drive you will pass by a variety of villas. Upon opening the gate to ours we were immediately faced with the large private swimming pool and outdoor/indoor dining. The pool itself was the ideal temperature and had a wide shelf that was ideal for Ollie to practice his swimming on. There was also a couple of sunloungers, of which received sun for the entire day. There isn’t a huge amount of greenery yet as most of the plants are still quite small, but give it a few months and they will have stunning gardens!
Lounge
The villa itself runs in an L shape around the pool, with the main entrance heading into the modern lounge. Being newly constructed the entire villa is ultra-modern and clean, with effective use of colours and materials giving a fresh relaxing feel. Like each room in the villa, the lounge has its own individual climate control system. And believe us when we say it works well, it can feel like the Arctic in no time at all!! The lounge is fitted out with a few comfy sofa chairs and a flat-screen TV. There is also the usual minibar, tea/coffee station in the corner.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Our two-bedroom villa had one king master bedroom and a twin bedroom, both separated by the lounge. The ideal setup for most families! Luxurious linens and comfy mattresses mean your ensured a good night’s sleep. Both feature direct pool access through their sliding glass floor to ceiling windows. What better way to wake up?! They also each feature their own sun-soaked ensuites.
The Experience
Check In
Upon arrival at the main lobby, we were promptly scooped up by a buggy and transported to the ‘villa’ check-in lounge. A large open air pavilion in the middle of the resort full of friendly smiles, overlooking a large lake. The villa ride was welcomed as we soon realised just how large the resort is. Thankfully buggies frequently whiz past and offer to take you wherever you need to go. Shortly after processing our booking we were taken once again by buggy to our villa.
Swimming
There are two pools within the resort; the oversized infinity-edge beachfront pool and a smaller more secluded pool. There is more than enough space to find a pool lounge to yourself and the little ones are well provided for with a separate special shallow kiddie pool.
If the pools aren’t your style, there is always the lengthy Mai Khao beach to swim in. With loads of shady palm trees, some even sporting swings and hiding beach volleyball courts, you’re bound to find a good spot.
Activities
Something we found really cool about Splash is they want to ensure it’s not just the little ones having a good time. Whilst they do offer kid only activities, there is a large weekly schedule of various all-ages activities! With fire show lessons, beach soccer, aqua Zumba, Thai language lessons and much more – there is seriously something for everybody! Check out the timetable here.
Splash Beach Club
Fronting the ocean is the Splash Beach Club. A large area buzzing with activity and home to beach club discos (with a full DJ and banging tunes), fire shows as well as an outdoor cinema. Being a beach club you’ll also find a well stocked bar, and it’s conveniently located beside the main pool. This seemed to be a really popular spot for socialising and was always filled with positive energy and vibes.
Splash Jungle Waterpark
One of the cool things about Splash Beach Resort is that there is a full-scale waterpark in the centre of the property. This enormous park has enough attractions, rides and slides to keep both the adults and children entertained for days! There is heaps for the little ones to do and a really big water playground as well as mini slides. Ollie even built up the courage to go down a small one by himself! From lazy rivers to Superbowl slides, you can set the pace of your day here. The entry here is an additional cost however an unlimited access package is 3500 THB for your whole stay, valid for up to 5 people! You can also get privilege prices for daily entry tickets.
Dining at Splash Beach Resort
Breakfast
You have two buffet breakfast options at Splash; Splash Kitchen or the Sunset Kitchen. Splash Kitchen is a massive building with a wide variety of food offerings from all corners of the globe. The Sunset Kitchen, however, was our preferred dining spot, situated at the beachfront – giving great sunset views as you might have guessed. This smaller venue still provided a fantastic range of buffet food but also had made to order coffees (this part was enough to keep us dining there haha!).
Sunset Kitchen Seafood BBQ Buffet
The Sunset Kitchen is the place to be, right by the main pool along the beach it has the ideal outlook. They offer up international cuisine in both a la carte and buffet. We had one of the signature seafood bbq buffets and it was exceptional. There was a range of food items available (not just seafood), but the freshly caught seafood was incredible, and best of all – all you can eat!
How Kid-Friendly Is Splash Beach Resort?
Kids Amenities
Splash shines as a kid-friendly property. Awaiting us in the room was not just a crib, but also a baby bath and potty! Much more to Ollie’s excitement though was the cute monkey plush toy on the bed! Wherever we went high chairs were easily arranged. You’ll also find that there are always great food offerings for even the fussiest of eaters.
Kids Pool
There is a decent-sized shallow kid swim area separate to the main beachfront pool. The ideal learning spot for those getting familiar with the water. However, we much rathered swimming in our own private pool in the comfort of our villa where Ollie could practice swimming along a shallow ledge.
Kids Club & Activities
Onsite near the pool is the staffed kids club and outdoor playground. Here your little ones will be able to enjoy a wide range of toys and activities, ensuring their holiday is equally as fun as your own. Being on the way to the beach, Ollie wouldn’t let us walk past the playground without using it! Activities range from free to paid (most are free) and feature lots of arts and crafts as well as games and even cooking. Babysitting services are available at a cost of 300THB per hour.
Waterpark
As mentioned before there is a waterpark on-site, it doesn’t get much more kid-friendly than that! With rides and attractions for all ages, the babies, teens and adults will all be thrilled!
