Imagine a hotel built specifically for kids, ensuring that they will have the time of their life on holiday. Well, the luxurious Grand Mirage in Nusa Dua has done exactly that with their brand new entire ‘Family Paradise’ wing of the resort. There’s an insane kids club comprising three different areas, a waterpark, a separate resort pool complete with waterslide and the ability to take up an all-inclusive package covering seven different restaurants and even watersports! Oh yeah, and it’s beachfront. What more could they want!?

Grand Mirage Family Paradise Bali – Nusa Dua
The Grand Mirage hotel has been a long-time favourite of many visitors to Bali, specifically known for its all-inclusive nature. This luxury beachfront resort recently acquired the land next door and built a new hotel completely from scratch specifically for families, Family Paradise. Whilst the Grand Mirage has a more authentic traditional Balinese design, family paradise is bright, vibrant and modern. However, as a guest of either, you are free to roam the grounds of the other and are able to make use of all the facilities, pools and eateries that they offer!
Family Paradise is much smaller than the original resort, with just 77 rooms and suites spread across three levels. The Grand Mirage is located along the Nusa Dua peninsula in Benoa (not within the gated region so there are shops right outside the resort). The two wings are a short 100m walk along the beach apart from each other.
Inside Our Junior Suite
Our Junior Suite was located one the top floor with a balcony looking down over the beach, pool and lush garden with a large koi filled pond. Our 60sqm suite was comprised of two bedrooms and two bathrooms, each specifically tailored to suit the parents and kids. The master bedroom felt spacious and modern with an extra-large double-bed, flat-screen TV, desk area and large cupboard to store everything you bring when travelling with kids! The TV was kitted out with its own software that you could use to find out all about the hotel services and even read the room service menus. Accompanying the room was the luxe ensuite bathroom with tub and shower, ideal for baby bathing. The balcony was only accessible from this room, definitely a good safety design in preventing the kiddies from getting out on their own.
Through a door right next to the master bed was the ‘kids room’, complete with 3 single beds. Colourful and unique furniture, as well as a big feature wall, made it abundantly clear this room was all about the kids! Of course Ollie had his own cot setup ready and waiting. This room had lots of space to play around in and also had its own flat-screen tv. Additionally, it had its own kid-sized ensuite where everything was just rightly sized for an independent child!
The Experience
Being a part of the Grand Mirage resort, means you get the full Grand Mirage experience even though you are in the Family Paradise building. You are free to frequent either resort with no limitations on facility usage. Essentially you get two hotels for the price of one, bargain!
Pools
Family Paradise has two pools, the funtastic Splash Zone waterpark at the front and a larger pool facing the ocean. The main pool is perfect for kids and adults alike with a special shallow toddler swimming area and the more adult-friendly deep section. The deeper section is also home to the large water slide! Meanwhile, at the Grand Mirage property, there is a large lagoon-style pool complete with swim-up bar. However, there is also an infinity pool looking out over the ocean, stunning!
Activities
Ok so we actually didn’t have time to do any activities amongst all the fun we were having and catching up on work, however, there was LOADS on offer. There are daily schedules of activities and not schedules things to do. Yoga, cycling tours and a huge range of motorised and non-motorised watersports are available to keep you occupied. Best of all, if you are on the Gold all-inclusive package, most of it is completely free! They also put on a cultural show in the evening paired with a special dinner that looks absolutely incredible combining performances with heaps of special effects.
Thalasso Spa
We’ve become spa aficionados through our travels and have been to quite a few, however, the design here was something extraordinary! You felt as if you had been transported to some far-flung Mediterranean destination with the use of stone and sand. Whilst the 16 different treatment rooms were designed to be an experience in themselves. We both had a massage whilst Ollie was babysat in the Kids Club and felt pure bliss, both nearly falling asleep!
Dining at Grand Mirage Family Paradise
All-Inclusive Food and Drink
To make the most of the Grand Mirage experience you really need to take up the all-inclusive package which allows you to consume as much as you want from any of the 7 restaurants on site. This was our first ‘all-inclusive’ experience and we were a bit hesitant about how the food would be given the very nature of it. However credit where its due, it was all super tasty and a variety of cuisines were available – from Italian to Indian to Chinese and more. They also have decent kids meals with things your kids will actually eat, like the tasty bolognese kids pizza below! You also are allowed to make full use of the room service, midnight desert anyone?? Oh yeah, and did we mention that drinks including cocktails are all part of the deal.
In terms of breakfast, they have buffet spreads in both family paradise and in the main resort complex. We ate in the main resort each day as we had a nice spot by the man-made waterfall that was quite picturesque and cool. The offerings were fairly extensive with all the usual buffet staples like eggs to order, pancakes, hashbrowns etc and a few extras such as sushi and an Indian corner. There is also a selection of freshly made juice concoctions that were lovely! Hot tip: Order a latte and a cup of ice and make your own iced coffee.
How Kid-Friendly Is Grand Mirage Family Paradise?
Hotel and Rooms
The hotel has been built from the ground up with families in mind, so there are small touches everywhere to make it more kid-friendly. For example, signs in the corridors for the bathrooms have little superhero symbols and there are decals on the walls. The rooms themselves for the kids have been tastefully personalised so as to be kid-friendly but not too gaudy for adults. Additionally, their bathrooms facilities are more kid-friendly sized. There was also a fridge and kettle as well as plenty of bottled water in our room to help with bottle preparation.
There is also a ‘pantry’ located in the hotel where there is hot and cold filtered water, a bottle steriliser and microwave. A nifty extra they provide is a ‘nursery room’ for when you arrive before check-in or want to stay beyond check-out with kids under 6. It’s accessible 24/7 free of charge and has everything from bedding (a cot and single bed) to changing items such as change mat, nappy rash cream and diapers!
Kids Club
The kids club is a huge drawcard to this resort as the kids seriously will not want to leave. Ollie was only 1 year 3 months old when we visited and he would cry every time we walked past!! The kids club is open for kids to roam free over 4 where they are supervised by staff. However, toddlers under 4 are able to use the facilities they just need supervision by family or a babysitter, which can easily be organised by the staff.
Its made up of three different sections. An awesome indoor playground filled with lots of foam padding, slides and even a ball pit. There are also loads of other toys and spots to do colouring in. The kids E-Lounge is another section, a futuristic area with pod gaming areas kitted out with Playstations and TVs. The other area is in between the two and has a kid’s padded boxing ring and table tennis and billiards area.
Pools and Waterpark
You can’t come on holiday and not swim though especially not in tropical Bali. And the grand mirage has no shortage of waterbased play. With a large pool at family paradise decked out with a 2 story twisting waterslide, toys scattered around and a shallow section – it is fun for the whole fam. But even more fun is the mini waterpark at the front of the complex and its series of slides and big tipping bucket. Once you’ve conquered these pools you can move next door to their large lagoon pool.
More Kid Fun
Just when you thought the kids couldnt play anymore there is also a massive rock climbing wall and small outdoor playground. Additionally you also have access to all the preorganised and extra activities, classes and watersports! Then there is also an entire beach at the front to explore!
