Watching the sunrise from a lookout over the Grampians is a must-do when visiting. There’s something magical about watching the world come to life as the sky explodes in colour above the mountains, trees and lakes. The Boroka lookout is the ideal place for those who find waking up for sunrises hard enough, it’s seriously only a 1 minute walk to the viewpoint from the carpark.
How to get to the Boroka Lookout
The Boroka lookout is located in the heart of the Grampians just a 15km up Mount Difficult from Halls Gap. If coming from Halls Gap, follow the signs towards Mackenzie Falls / Wonderland. Once you reach the Boroka Lookout carpark, it is a short stroll to two viewing platforms.
What to know about Boroka Lookout
Whatever the conditions, the Boroka lookout is the perfect place to rug up and catch the sunrise. The viewpoint faces east and whether its sunny, cloudy or foggy your bound to have a stunning view of the Grampians in all its glory.
This is by far the most accessible viewpoint for sunrises, and thus expect it to potentially be busy. So, get up early if you want that perfect Insta shot. It’s just 90 metres of sealed track from where you walk your car, a.k.a very close. Thus, making it the perfect spot for everyone including small children, those with limited mobility or just those who hate getting up early to go hiking!
There are two separate enclosed viewing platforms giving epic views over Halls Gap, Lake Bellfield, Fyans Valley and the Wonderland and Mt William mountain ranges. Some braver risk takers jump the fence for a seat on the rocky outcrop perched over the cliff, but it would be totally irresponsible of us to tell you that (wink-wink)
